FAQ

Is fir plywood sustainable?

Because Douglas Fir has a rapid regeneration rate (60-90 years), fir plywood is considered a sustainable wood product.

What are the characteristics of fir plywood?

Douglas fir is among the heaviest and hardest softwoods available in Canada and fir plywood is known for being strong, durable, and resistant to warping. It is one of the most versatile plywoods for applications ranging from structural building and construction to landscaping, mouldings, veneers, doors, flooring, panelling, woodworking, furniture making, and more.

Is fir plywood water resistant?

Fir is a naturally water-resistant wood. Some types of fir plywood, such as exterior grade or marine grade, are also specifically treated to have increased water resistance.

Is fir plywood better than pine?

That depends entirely on your purposes. Pine plywood has less natural strength, durability, and water resistance than fir plywood. It is often used for furniture or cabinets.
