Production Worker, Star Truss

Location: We are located at 1700 Molson St in Winnipeg.

Hours: Work is full time, for either day or afternoon shifts. (7 am – 3:30 pm and *3:30 pm – midnight)

Pay: Starting wage is $16.18 – 18.96/hour based on experience. *shift premium for afternoon shift.

Requirements

  • Previous truss manufacturing experience is preferred, but not necessary.
  • No formal training is required.
  • Must be physically able to:
    1. Climb up and down from an approximately 3 foot high work area several times per hour.
    2. Stand for up to 2 ½ hours at a time without rest.
    3. Lift wood trusses and components up to 16 feet long and weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to use and read a tape measure.
  • CSA approved safety shoes/boots, to be purchased by the employee before commencing work.

Job Overview

Production Workers work within the guidelines set by management, working closely with the Lead Hand/Table Captain and Production Manager.

  • The production workflow is as follows: Assisting in setting up the truss jig, moving materials to the production table; assembling each truss as per the engineering shop drawings; ensuring that the connector plates are placed correctly on both sides of the truss; that all material is of good quality, the correct size & grade, and cut to the correct specifications; and that each truss is labeled correctly.
  • Observe and comply with all safety rules.
  • Clean up work areas at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by management.
  • Tools required to perform daily duties: hard hat, safety vest, gloves and other PPE will be supplied by Star Truss.

Working Conditions

Work is full time, on site, for both day and/or afternoon shifts. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and other occupational hazards, as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust.
